Referrals to Hospital

If your GP suggests that you need referral to hospital to see a specialist, you can book the appointment yourself with the hospital of your choice. Ask your GP to provide you with the necessary paperwork.  You will be provided with online or telephone booking options.

If you would like to see a consultant privately, you will need to be seen by a GP first who will confirm if the referral is appropriate.  You  can then proceed to book an appointment with the specialist of your choice.  Some insurance companies have a recommended list.  You will be provided with a letter of referral, which can be emailed to you. Please allow 5 working days.

Hospital Appointments

If you need to cancel or change a hospital appointment, please contact the hospital direct.

If a hospital appointment is cancelled by the hospital, or you receive a letter to say you have been discharged and you were not expecting this, please contact the hospital initially, if you think there has been an error. 

If you need to speak to someone at the practice about a hospital appointment or a referral, please use our online contact form, unless your issue is medically urgent. 

Hospital Transport Bookings

Some people who have to go to hospital for tests or an out-patient appointment, are eligible for transport to hospital. If you think you may be eligible, contact our reception team and they will explain what you need to do.

For St George’s Hospital you will be given a phone number to arrange the transport. For Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton, and for the Moorfields Eye Clinic at St George’s, our reception team will arrange the transport.
