Choose self care
The Self Care Forum’s definition of Self Care is: ‘The actions that individuals take for themselves, on behalf of and with others in order to develop, protect, maintain and improve their health, wellbeing or wellness’.
More and more patients are choosing to treat minor ailments at home and/or with the help of their local pharmacists and it is important to continue encouraging this.
There are still 57 million GP consultations a year for minor ailments at a total cost to the NHS of £2 billion, which takes up, on average, an hour a day for every GP.
Please visit the NHS website, Wandsworth CGG website and Self Care Forum website if you would like more information on self care
Patient information leaflets on antibiotic prescribing as well as self care (further down the page) can be found here.
